Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its fall 2017 Dean's List. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum QPA of at least 3.500 for the term, provided that, in the term they have successfully completed courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits.
A total of 12,594 students enrolled during the 2017 fall semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.
As first-year students embark on their college experience, they will all take part in Loyola's living learning program, Messina. The common text for Messina is Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson. The book, a compelling first-hand account of a lawyer who defends the poor and wrongly condemned, speaks to the inequality in the justice system.
Fairleigh Dickinson University congratulates employees who have reached a special anniversary of years of service with the University. Their awards were presented at a luncheon on November 6, 2013. The group was welcomed by Peter Wooley, College at Florham Provost. Barry Sheffield, assistant director of telecommunications, served as master of ceremony.

Twenty-four students in Ithaca College's School of Business were inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. Lifetime membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International.
UDance, the largest student-run philanthropy at the University of Delaware, presented its 11th annual 12-hour dance marathon on Sunday, March 12, at the Bob Carpenter Center and raised a record amount of $1,890,337.16 for the fight against childhood cancer. More than 2,000 UD students participated in the event.
The tradition of the nursing pin and the ceremonial pinning originated in the 1860's at the Nightingale School of Nursing at St. Thomas Hospital in London. Having been recently awarded The Red Cross of St. George for her selfless service to the injured and dying in the Crimean War, Florence Nightingale chose to extend the honor to her most outstanding graduate nurses by presenting each of them with a medal for excellence. The pin presented is both beautiful and symbolic. It has been both literally and symbolically a cross to bear, a medal of honor, and a badge of courage.
Lafayette College honors students for academic excellence at the annual All-College Honors Convocation. Awards and prizes are presented to outstanding students in all four of Lafayette's academic divisions -- engineering, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences.
The White Coat Ceremony was designed in 1993 by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation as a way to welcome new students into the medical profession and to set clear expectations regarding their primary role as physicians. The inaugural tradition, which includes the cloaking and recitation of the medical oath by participants, emphasizes the importance of compassionate care as well as scientific proficiency in medicine and nursing.
